About the site author

An picture of the blog authorHi, my name is Lee Francis Wilhelmsen and I’m your host. I was born and raised in Liverpool, England but have lived in Norway since the age of 9.

I hold a Master’s degree from the University of Stavanger in Information Technology and work as a software architect and developer in the Stavanger region. Since graduation in 1998, I have primarily worked with software architecture and implementation, but also with maintenance, configuration, deployment and administration of computer systems.

I have participated in most phases associated with the traditional software development cycle and worked in teams of all sizes, but for smaller projects I have often taken the role as a technical team lead or general technical concierge.

For software development oriented projects I have experience with traditional system programming in languages such as C++, Java and C#, but also maintain an interest for dynamic languages, such as Python. I have a lot of experience with web-based solutions running on many different technical platforms and have experience from working with front end technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. In recent years I have expanded my focus from Java and Open Source web-based solutions to Microsoft technology, using ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC. I still maintain a healthy relationship with general open source technology, running on several operating systems, both front end and backend.

I am independent, committed and dedicated to all things related to software, including development processes and management. My primary focus is system quality, software craftmanship, sensible process methodology and structured object-oriented architecture. I try to keep up with the latest technology, process trends and software development news by reading, listening to podcasts and actively following the community.

From 2008 to 2010, I was responsible for the user group ”Java & Open Source” in Bouvet, Rogaland. It’s purpose was to establish and encourage knowledge sharing between different departments within the company. During my time as consultant I have also worked as a technical advisor for several of my employers.

On a social level I usually participate in the majority of office functions, and on occasion, organise casual social events for my fellow colleagues.

The goal of my blog is to keep track of opinions and knowledge, while at the same time, sharing the content with any interested readers. I hope you find it of interest!
